Lagoon Co-Founder Nadia Sergejuk on Leadership, Scaling and Blockchain Innovation

Nadia Sergejuk, Co-Founder and COO at Lagoon, discussing women in blockchain leadership and scaling strategy

The path into blockchain is rarely a straight line. For Nadia Sergejuk, Co-Founder & COO at Lagoon, it began all the way back in 2015. It was on a seminar on programmable agreements overlooking the City of London. What started as curiosity gradually became conviction. She watched blockchain evolve into a technology capable of transforming how people and businesses operate on a global scale.

The Drofa Comms team sat down to talk to Nadia as part of our Women Leading the Way initiative. So, we’re happy to announce that the latest interview featuring her as the key speaker is now live!

Before co-founding Lagoon, Nadia built her career across law, institutional finance, venture capital, and deep tech investing. That combination of experiences has shaped the way she approaches company building today. Having worked both as an investor and a founder, she shares why understanding market cycles, focusing on fundamentals, and thinking beyond short-term trends have become central to her leadership philosophy.

As part of the interview, she also spoke on Lagoon’s rapid growth and what changes when a startup becomes a scale-up. Rather than expanding headcount at every stage, the company focused on building technology designed to scale from day one. Nadia explains that strong co-founder partnership, complementary skill sets, and emotional maturity have been essential throughout that journey.

Our conversation also explored one of blockchain’s biggest challenges: balancing speed with sustainability. Nadia argues that the two should never be treated as competing priorities. Instead, if founders want to create businesses that stand the test of time, they should build with scalability, risk management, and regulatory awareness in mind from the very beginning.

“I default to asking what could go wrong before asking what could go right, and founders who build with that same discipline usually grow faster in the long run,” is a particularly memorable line from Nadia that stuck with us.
