Julie Bourgeois of 6 Monks on Women in Crypto Compliance, Regulation, and Trust

Julie Bourgeois, Head of Legal and Compliance at 6 Monks, featured in the Women Leading the Way series on women in crypto compliance

In fintech, innovation moves fast — but trust takes time. Few professionals understand that balance better than Julie Bourgeois, Head of Legal and Compliance at 6 Monks, the first CSSF-licensed Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) in Luxembourg focused on digital assets, Web3, and private equity.

At Drofa Comms, we spoke with Julie for our Women Leading the Way series to explore how she’s building the bridge between pioneering technology and institutional-grade governance. Also, we discussed why women are essential to shaping the future of regulated crypto.

Julie’s career began in corporate law, where she saw firsthand how regulatory clarity can make or break companies. “Sound structures and clear frameworks are the foundation of sustainable growth,” she notes. This is a conviction that still guides her work today. For over a decade, she has been deliberately turning compliance from a constraint into a catalyst for innovation.

At 6 Monks, that approach comes alive. As the firm leads in regulated fund management for digital assets, Julie’s job is to align rigorous governance with a fast-evolving tech stack. “In fintech and crypto, the challenge is to reconcile pioneering technology with robust governance. That bridge builds trust — with regulators, investors, and the ecosystem as a whole,” she explains.

Her view also underscores a wider point: inclusion is as much a design choice as a policy objective. Having worked in France and Luxembourg, Julie sees both progress and a gap between policy and lived experience. Balancing motherhood and a demanding career, she stresses that “progressive systems make it possible to reconcile ambition with family life — but we still need to ensure women are empowered to shape the conversation.”

That belief shapes her hope for the next generation. She believes in fintech where credibility and empathy coexist, and where leaders don’t have to choose between career and family. “My hope is that the next generation won’t have to choose between credibility and empathy, or between career and family. They can lead authentically, without compromise.”
