After a summer spent travelling around the world through millions of collective steps, Drofa Comms has launched Drofa Move. It is a three-month corporate fitness challenge that connects employee wellbeing with charitable giving.
Colleagues earn points for the physical activity they already do, from running and swimming to yoga, cycling or an evening walk. Weekly wellbeing challenges add another way to participate. At the end of each month, the points collected by the whole team are converted into a company donation to charity.
The format is deliberately flexible. There is no single sport everyone has to follow or one target every participant must reach. Instead, we design Drofa Move to make regular movement easier to fit into different routines while giving the team a shared goal outside day-to-day work.
From the Drofa World Tour to Drofa Move
Drofa Move follows our summer-long Drofa World Tour, where colleagues combined their daily steps to move along a virtual route connecting the countries and cities our team calls home.
The new programme keeps the social element of that initiative but expands it to almost any kind of physical activity.
A workout of at least 20 minutes counts. It does not matter what it is — running, yoga, stretching, swimming, cycling or another form of exercise. Participants share a photo, a screenshot from a fitness tracker or a short update in the Drofa Move chat. In turn, HR records the activities and calculates points at the end of each week.
There are several ways to add to the team total. Completing a workout earns points, as does sharing it with colleagues. Weekly wellbeing challenges add more, while staying active regularly throughout the week is rewarded as well.
This gives people with very different routines a way to take part. One colleague might train several times a week, while another may simply try to add more movement between long periods at a desk. Both contribute to the same team result.
Turning Team Activity Into Charity Donations
The main addition to Drofa Move is its connection to charity. At the end of each month, we will add together all points the team has earned and convert into a donation from Drofa Comms.
Before the programme began, colleagues were asked to vote on the type of cause they wanted to support, choosing between organisations working with children, environmental causes and animals. The result was a bit different from what we expected: the team wanted to support all three.
“We wanted Drofa Move to be something everyone could take part in, regardless of how they prefer to stay active or how much time they have. Connecting employees’ activity to charity gives even a simple walk or short workout a shared purpose, as every contribution adds to something the whole team can achieve together,” said Anna Lekomtseva, HR Director at Drofa Comms.
So, the activity logged during the three-month challenge will contribute to charitable giving, with the first monthly results and donation planned for the end of October.
That gives an ordinary workout another purpose, where a run, walk or short mobility session still benefits the person doing it, but each activity also adds up to a result the whole team creates together.
Small Wellbeing Habits, Shared Results
Drofa Move is not solely about conventional workouts. Every week, the team receives a small wellbeing challenge designed to add more movement to an ordinary working day.
The first focused on something truly relevant to people who spend hours in front of a screen. Every two hours, colleagues should get up for a two-minute neck and eye break.
The following week moved to foot mobility, with several simple exercises that could be done at home and attached to an existing habit, such as brushing your teeth or making coffee.
These challenges do not require a gym, special equipment or much free time whatsoever. The aim is to make small actions easier to repeat until they begin to fit naturally into an existing routine.
For a team working from different countries and time zones, the format also creates something colleagues can participate in together without the need to be in the same place. Workouts, walks, tracker screenshots and weekly challenge updates all go into the common chat, while every contribution adds to the team score and, eventually, the amount donated.
What Comes Next for Drofa Move
The first month of Drofa Move ends in October, when we will calculate the team’s total points and make the first charity donation linked to the challenge.
The programme will continue until the end of the year, with a new wellbeing challenge every week, monthly charity contributions and prizes for the three most active participants at the end of the three-month programme.
By then, we will also have a better idea of how well the format has achieved what we set out to do: make regular movement easier to fit into everyday working life while turning individual activity into a contribution to a good cause.
