When Ashley Wright entered crypto in 2016, there was no roadmap waiting for her. The terminology was difficult, communities were far less accessible, and much of the learning came through research, experimentation and figuring things out independently.
This experience later shaped the work she built around Web3 education and community building.
In our latest Women Leading the Way interview, Ashley Wright, founder, educator and community builder in Web3, explains why making crypto and digital assets easier to understand remains central to her approach.
Ashley states that even though women’s presence in Web3 has grown, visibility needs to translate into economic participation and ownership. This means there must be more women founding companies, deploying capital and taking part in decisions about what gets funded and developed.
We also discussed confidence and why women entering Web3 can hold themselves back by believing they need another qualification. Ashley’s view is much simpler, as she thinks that confidence often follows action.
The conversation also looks at how crypto education may need to change for Gen Alpha. Instead of starting with blockchain terminology or individual tokens, Ashley focuses on money, technology, risk and digital ownership. These are concepts that younger generations already encounter through gaming, virtual economies and AI.
Finally, Ashley shares her approach to networking and personal branding in an industry where AI can now generate almost unlimited content. In her view, genuine experience, relationships and a recognisable perspective matter even more as a result.
As she emphasises, “The strongest personal brands going forward will belong to people who can teach clearly, build credibility through real work, create genuine relationships and evolve as quickly as technology does.”
